Article IV

Article IV: Membership

Section 1: Any student at American Heritage is eligible to apply for full membership after having completed four semesters of college preparatory mathematics. College preparatory mathematics is defined to be any math course at the Algebra I level or beyond. The student must be currently enrolled in a still more advanced mathematics course as defined by the sequential course outline offered at American Heritage School or have successfully completed the highest mathematics course offered at American Heritage .

Section 2: A student must have a grade point average of at least 3.5 in college preparatory mathematics and at lease 3.0 overall grade point average. Averages are determined from semester grades. An eligible student is allowed only one semester grade average below B in his/her college preparatory mathematics courses and no unsatisfactory conduct grades while an active member of Mu Alpha Theta.

Section 3: Selection of members shall be approved by the Sponsor, the officers of the chapter, the students college preparatory math teacher, the Principal, and the Dean of American Heritage School.

Section 4: To maintain active membership, members must show a continuing interest in mathematics by:

a. continuous enrollment in college preparatory mathematics as outlined in Article IV, Section 2.

b. payment of dues as established by the Chapter's Executive Board.

c. active participation in the activities of the chapter

d. maintaining the required grade point average as outlined in Article IV, Section 2.
